Tequila – How to use it outside of Taking Shots

I have a respectful passion for Tequila. My lust for Tequila started back in 1995, when my husband and I went to Windsor celebrating his graduation from the University of Detroit. This was before you needed a passport to get over the bridge leading to Canada. We stayed in a hotel for 3 days. We spent a day at the casino and that's where I had my first Margarita….it was strong, sweet and sour. The flavor of the Tequila, the tartness of the lemon and lime, the sweetness from the sugar lingers around your taste buds, uhm mmm... One taste started a love affair that has lasted 20 years.

I make my own mix, which I will add below. When I need a hot totti, I add Tequila...... To my chai tea, I add tequila... and now my chai tea lattes are....yum, yum.  I add Tequila to my batter mix when I fry cod and shrimp…....chile I told you it was a love affair…..don't look at me like that! Look, I don't have it every day but when I’m in the mood that's my go to. Hey, your husband will love it when you are in the mood for Tequila…..it will make you less inhibited……..girl Tequila will have your husband calling you margarita!!

Recipe for Margarita Mix/Sour Mix
2 parts sugar
1 part water

Bring to a boil, allow time to cool down(if you aren't going to use all in 1 day add a couple tbsp of Tequila to your syrup)this will keep in the fridge for a week.

Add 2 cups of fresh squeezed lemons or lemon juice
Add the juice of a couple limes

Pour in a glass jar with a tight lid. I pour a third of a glass of Tequila and the sour mix to taste.uhmmm, that's good drinking!

I wet a margarita glass shake off the water pour kosher salt in a small saucer take the rim of the glass and roll it in the salt, then I put the glass in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Sometimes I put 3 trays of ice in the blender with 6oz of Tequila and 8 oz of the mix and make frozen margaritas. You might use more or less Tequila and mix(you know your taste).
