Is Eating Healthy Expensive?

Why does it cost so much to eat healthy? Why? Why can I get a burger for $.99, but if I want a salad it's like $7.00. These are the types of questions I get all the time. So of course, if I hear it, I know that there are people that are thinking the same thing and want answers.

We live in a society where everyone loves instant gratification so food chains, have recognized that and are capitalizing off of it. Is it wrong? Meh. They go after consumers who want to be satisfied instantly, and it works.

Walking into a grocery, the food in the inner isles are cheaper than the food around the perimeter of the store. Let me break that down. Canned veggies are way cheaper than fresh veggies. It’s crazy, I know. It’s the truth though.

What you have to realize is that even though the cheaper items may be beneficial for now, we need to think long term. You are what you eat. You save a few dollars, but what about your life span? Don’t cheat yourself.

Fresh food provides the nutrients that you need to survive. That's why I am always saying “eat to live”.

Ultimately, YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT! What you put in your body is what you get out. What you eat now determines what your body will do for you 20 or even 30 years down the road. Are you taking care of yourself? If there was ever a time to splurge on yourself, do it on your groceries. It’s a worthy investment! I promise.

Eating healthy might be more expensive, but you can’t put a price on your life.

You’re worth it.

Til next time, May your Tastebuds be Forever Satisfied

Great article. Do you have any tips on how one could save money buying healthier foods?

I’m actually going to do an on going #QueTips segment about that. We are trying to see how far we can stretch $50 bucks!

Shop are farmers markets for one. Fresh veggies that come from a closer source than the grocery store are always cheaper.

Also, don’t try to buy everything all at one time, make small changes. Look at this video I just posted!
